KBI 310657 Issue Addressed: SNMP Trap Rule Must Specify Correct Body Variable Type
Version
Argent for SNMP all versions
Date
Tuesday, 10 Sep 2013
Summary
Customer can specify body variable criteria to filter SNMP Trap
Argent for SNMP Engine matches variable type as well as variable value
Customer should double check variable type if their criteria do not work
Technical Background
The following Rule is an example that customer complains not working
Comparing the detail of captured SNMP Trap and Rule definition, apparently the Enterprise OID and trap type are correctly specified
Further checking, shows the customer has specify the body variable 1.3.6.1.4.1.1139.25.1.1.1.5.* as numeric type with condition ‘=0‘
But the trap detail shows the matching variable is actually Octet String type
If customer change the variable type, and change condition to “matches ‘0’ “, the Rule will work
Resolution
