Summary

Argent Advanced Technology has been enhanced with a new Rule category ‘Track With Subject Rules’ under ‘Exchange Mail Flow Rules’ in Argent for Exchange to monitor whether any emails with specified subject has been received or not in Exchange Server 2013.

Example 1:

‘Track With Subject Rules’ monitors the emails received in Exchange Server 2013. With this Rule, the user can check whether any mail having subject as specified in the Rule, has been received or not in the Exchange Server 2013. There is also an option to check the emails received in past the specified time limit.

Rule ‘MFL_TRK_EML_SUB_EX2013_RECEIVED’ is broken if any message with subject containing the string ‘Error’, has been received in past 60 minutes in Exchange Server 2013.

Example 2:

Rule ‘MFL_TRK_EML_SUB_EX2013_NOT_RECEIVED’ is broken if no message with subject containing the string ‘Connected’, has been received in past 24 hours in Exchange Server 2013.

Technical Background

In Microsoft Exchange Server 2013, the message tracking log is the complete record of all message activities as messages are sent to and from the Transport service on Mailbox servers, mailboxes on Mailbox servers, and Edge Transport servers.

‘Track With Subject Rule’ utilizes the message tracking logs, to monitor the emails received in Exchange Server 2013.

For this Rule to function properly, make sure that the following requirements are configured correctly.

  • Make sure that the message tracking is enabled in Exchange Server 2013. The default is enabled.
  • Make sure that message subject logging is enabled in the message tracking logs. The default is enabled.
  • Make sure that Microsoft Exchange Transport Log Search service is running. This service provides remote search capability for Microsoft Exchange Transport log files.

Track With Subject Rule monitors all emails with user specified subject within the specified time limit. The Rule can be broken, if any email is found or not, as the user specify.
