Summary
Argent for VMware monitoring engine can monitor ESX host service console using SSH. The configuration is shown in following screen shot:
However, Argent for VMware monitoring engine might not be able to connect to service console for some ESX hosts, though SSH service is enabled on the ESX hosts.
The issue has been addressed in Argent AT 5.1A-1707-A.
Technical Background
The issue is caused by SSH service is configured using keyboard interactive authentication on the ESX hosts. Though keyboard interactive authentication looks similar to normal logon/password authentication, it is very different underneath.
Keyboard interactive is added to ESX Logon Option in Argent AT 5.1A-1707-A.
Resolution
Upgrade to Argent Advanced Technology 5.1A-1707-A or later.
