Summary

Argent for Sybase connectivity to the Adaptive server failed when net password encryption required option is turned on at the Sybase Adaptive server

Technical Background

Sybase Adaptive Server 15.0.2 or above allows the use of asymmetric encryption to securely transmit passwords from client to server using the RSA public key encryption algorithm

Adaptive Server generates the asymmetric key pair and sends the public key to clients that use a login protocol

For example, the client encrypts the user’s login password with the public key before sending it to the server

The server decrypts the password with the private key to begin the authentication of the client connecting

The previous versions of Argent for Sybase does not support password encryption and shows following error message when try to connect to the server with password encryption is turned on:

The issue has been addressed by enhancing the code to support password encryption while connecting to restricted Adaptive servers

Upgrade to Argent Advanced Technology 5.1A-1710-C or above
