KBI 220146 Argent Predictor Graph Unexpectedly Displays Zeroes
Version
All
Date
8 July 2002
Summary
A graph generated by the Argent Predictor unexpectedly displays a value as zero that is not a zero value.
In the example below, the temperature and humidity of a server room appear to be zero at the end of the graph.
Technical Background
This can be reproduced by disabling the ‘Use Previous Value for Missing Data’ option in the graph display options.
When enabled, the ‘Use Previous Value for Missing Data’ option bridges points that may be missing because the time interval that is being graphed does not contain sufficient metrics to sustain a continuous graph line.
In effect, it fills in the gaps where no data was collected so that a graph displays a more realistic picture of the performance counter being monitored.
Resolution
Enable the ‘Use Previous Value for Missing Data’ option.
