Summary

When upgrading to a new release or when removing either the Argent Job Scheduler or the Argent Queue Engine components you may encounter the following messages:

Follow the below steps to avoid possible file locking issues which can cause the above messages to appear and which can also result in files not being properly updated or removed:

1 – Set the Argent Scheduling Engine service and the Argent Queue Engine Service to Manual startup.

2 – Close all Queues as needed as shown below until the upgrade/removal process is completed:

3 – Restart the server being upgraded (Argent Scheduling Engine server or Argent Queue Engine server) as needed.

4 – After the server has been restarted, run setup.exe to upgrade the Argent Job Scheduler or Argent Queue Engine software as needed.

5 – Confirm that the dates of the various executables are consistent as indicated below:

6 – Set the Argent Scheduling Engine service and the Argent Queue Engine Service to Automatic startup.

7 – Start the Argent Queue Engine service, and then start the Argent Scheduling Engine service.

8 – Open all Queues as needed to begin normal processing as shown below:

9 – Inspect the Argent Job Scheduler’s SVC_Log.txt file to confirm proper operation.

10 – Inspect the Argent Queue Engine’s Log.txt file to confirm proper operation.
