Technical Background

To setup monitoring of Windows File using an Asterisk, do the following

  1. Click on Control Information
  2. Expand Rules
  3. Expand Window Rules
  4. Expand System File Rules
  5. Right Click on System File Rules
  6. Select New System File Rule
  7. Enter new Rule name
  8. Click OK
  9. Enter file name to monitor using “*” as a wild card anywhere in the name of the file

    As an example \\robertw-dcmain\C$\Argent\CustomReports\CATS_DOC_update_*.xml

  10. Ensure “Fire Separate Events For Each Matching File” option is checked
  11. Update other fields of the rule as necessary
  12. Test the rule to see the results as each file will be evaluated
