Summary

When Argent AT Daughter Engine starts, it checks the installed version of Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable. It will try to install bundled VC++ 2015 Redistributable if no compatible VC++ Redistributable is found.

Support of Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2022 Redistributable was introduced in Argent AT 5.1A-2210-A. Earlier versions will report compatible VC++ redistributable not installed.

However, when trying to install bundled VC++ 2015 redistributable, MSI installer will terminate and report newer version is already installed.

Argent AT does check the output log for the information of newer version. But in some rare cases, the log file might not be generated.

It is typical when server just starts, and antivirus program is not completely up.

Upgrade to Argent AT 5.1A-2210-A or later to address the issue.

Technical Background

Antivirus program intercepts file I/O. It could prevent MSI installer generating logs.

Resolution

Upgrade to Argent AT 5.1A-2210-A or later.

For customers who cannot upgrade immediately, they can rename AT_CHECK_DLL.exe to AT_CHECK_DLL.exe.not_used. This workaround will allow Daughter Engine service to start successfully.
