Unix Rules

The Unix Rules provide the ability to execute and test the results of shell scripts run against a monitored Oracle server.

In order to communicate with a Unix server, the Unix connectivity settings must first be configured in the Unix node properties of the License Manager > Licensed Servers tab.

A Telnet or SSH account and password can be specified here, and using the Connectivity And Accessibility Test button will verify communication to the server.

Once communication to a Unix Oracle server has been established, it is possible to execute the Unix shell script rules against it.

The built-in Rules SCP_SUNOS_ORACLE_DATABASE and SCP_SUNOS_ORACLE_PROCESS monitor for any critical Oracle databases or processes that are not running.
