Service Packs are large updates from Microsoft to correct bugs and errors.

Service Packs must be applied and it’s essential your production servers are at the same Service Pack level.

SharePoint just stopped accepting logons for no apparent reason.

When you ask the server admin says, “Oh, that’s because SP2 was never installed.”

Ensure ALL SharePoint servers are at or above Service Pack 2 BEFORE you lose the application.
