KBI 310631 Issue Addressed: Program Rule Does Not Work For Executable With Name Containing Period
Version
Argent Guardian Ultra 1308-A or below
Date
Wednesday, 7 Aug 2013
Summary
Addressed an issue when using PDH method, Program Rule does not work if the executable name contains period. For example, executable ‘a.exe‘ works while ‘a.b.c.exe‘ does not work
Technical Background
When using PDH to retrieve the process names, the name is truncated at the first period by default. Extended PDH API is used to overcome this shortcoming in 1310-A
Resolution
Upgrade to Argent AT 3.1A-1310-A or above
Customers, who cannot upgrade for the time being, can switch to use WMI method instead of PDH. They can do so by changing the licensed node property
