Argent AT Minimum Requirements

To install Argent AT, the following minimum system and hardware requirements need to be met:

  • Windows 2008 R2 or above
  • At least two CPU cores
  • 4 GB RAM
  • 10 GB of disk space
  • 2.0 GHz processor or higher
  • Internet Explorer 8 or above
  • Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration (IE ESC) disabled
  • UAC disabled (W2008 R2 or above)
  • PowerShell 3.0 or above
  • .NET Framework 2.0

Note: The minimum server requirements are just a basic guideline for standard installations.

As the number of products, servers, and devices being monitored increases, so will the load on the server.

This, in turn, may require a larger CPU or additional memory.

Prerequisites

The following pre requisites should be installed on all Argent Motors, Main Engines, Daughter Engines and Trusted Agents;

All Operating Systems

Windows Server 2008 R2

Windows Server 2012 R2

Database Backend and Hardware Requirements

  • SQL Server 2005 or higher
  • Minimum 256 Mbytes database
  • Minimum 256 Mbytes transaction log
  • Note: SQL Server 2008 R2 requires .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 installed
  • Note: SQL Server 2012 requires .NET Framework 4.0 installed

Argent Service Account

  • An Active Directory account with full Domain Admin rights for the Argent Service account
  • An Exchange MAPI mailbox created for the account with SMTP relaying enabled
  • Remote Desktop privileges or Physical Access to the Argent Main Engine

Argent Defender

  • Third-party popup blockers should be disabled

Argent Guardian Ultra — Linux/Unix

  • PuTTY SSH client on the Main Engine or Trusted Agents
  • Linux/Unix account with rights to execute shell scripts with the highest privileges

Argent for Compliance

  • Argent SNMP Monitor (XT) cannot run on the same machine due to conflicts with SNMP Trap Handling
  • Argent for Compliance CAN run on the same machine as Argent for SNMP, however

Argent for Exchange

Argent for Exchange requirements for Main Engine and Trusted Agents:

  • PowerShell 3.0 or above

Argent for Oracle

  • DBA privileges granted to the Oracle account used for authentication
  • Oracle Client Tools installed on the Main Engine and Trusted Agents (obtained via the Oracle CD/DVD)

Argent for SharePoint

  • Windows SharePoint Services (WSS) 3.0 or above
  • Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) 2007 or above
  • Argent for SharePoint service account must have same privileges as SharePoint Search account
  • An Argent for SharePoint Trusted Agent must be installed on the SharePoint Front-end server

Argent for SNMP

  • Ensure you have the SNMP community strings for all monitored devices
  • SNMP traps should be forwarded to the Argent for SNMP Main Engine
  • Windows SNMP Service should NOT be running
  • Argent SNMP Monitor (XT) cannot run on the same machine due to conflicts with SNMP Trap Handling

Argent for SQL Server

  • SQL Server 2005 or above
  • DB Owner privileges granted to the Argent service account
  • Install SQL Management Studio 2014 or above

    OR

    Install the SQL Backward Compatibility Components, SQL Shared Management Objects (SMO) 2014 or above, and System CLR Types 2014 or above — all are part of the SQL Server Feature Pack 2014 or above.

Argent for VMware

Argent for VMware requirements for Main Engine and Trusted Agents:

Web 2.0 Products – Argent Global Manager, Argent Commander, Argent Reports

  • Argent AT must be installed with SQL Server (Express is fine) as a backend — SQL Compact and Oracle are NOT supported


  • IIS 6.0 or above


  • W2003: Active Server Pages web extension set to Allowed


    • W2008/W2012 or above:

     ASP (Active Server Pages) Role Service installed

     ASP.NET Role Service installed (for Argent Reports only)

     Windows Authentication Role Service installed


  • If 64-bit, IIS enabled for 32-bit worker processes

  • Argent Commander: Adobe Flash player must be installed for the Argent Clock and dashboards


  • Argent Global Manager: The Argent DB Lock and CRC Manager service is required for Argent AT — this service can be installed under the Advanced options of the Argent AT SETUP package
