KBI 310579 Issue Addressed: Missing Argent Console SQL Tables Cause Argent Console Service To Recycle
Version
Issue addressed in Argent AT 3.1A-1307-A or above
Date
Thu, 27 Jun 2013
Summary
If a customer upgrades Argent AT from previous versions to 3.1A-1304-L, Argent Predictor tables are not created during the upgrade process.
If a customer saves performance data of Global Health of one or multiple Argent Enterprise Application Views, Argent Console engine will be caught in a DB structure error and recycle.
Technical Background
The issue happens occurs for installations upgraded from versions earlier than Argent AT 3.1A-1304-L.
The Argent Predictor data for Argent Enterprise Application Views is saved once every 30 minutes. The following Argent Predictor tables may be missing:
1. ARGSOFT_AAC_PRD_MOTHER
2. ARGSOFT_AAC_PRD_DAUGHTER
3. ARGSOFT_AAC_PRD_DAUGHTER_TEXT
4. ARGSOFT_AAC_PRD_EAPPVIEW
As a result, the Argent Console engine recycles once every 30 minutes. Though this won’t completely bring down the system, it will degrade the system performance severly.
Customers can be notified if a System Event Alert is configured, or error messages can be seen in the service logs:
‘About to recycle service as requested by DAL due to structure issue of SQL backend’
Customers who have upgrade to 1307-A or later can also see the DB integrity checking error when starting the Argent AT GUI.
Resolution
Customers who are experiencing this issue should run the following file from the SETUP package:
\_ARGENT_AT_INSTALL\AAC\UPGRADE_MSSQL_1301-1304.SQL
This SQL query should be executed in SQL Server Management Studio to create the needed Argent Predictor tables.
Customers who skip Argent AT 3.1A-1304-L and upgrade directly to 3.1A-1307 or later will not have this issue.
