KBI 310666 Enhancement: Empty Engine Column In Task List For Relators Containing Only Event-Driven Rules

Version

Argent Advanced Technology 3.1A-1308-A or earlier

Date

Friday, 13 September 2013

Summary

The Argent AT Engine does not schedule Relators containing only event-driven Rules such as SNMP Trap Rules and SYSLOG Rules, as there is nothing to ‘test’

These type of Relators are simply listeners that react whenever an asynchronous event arrives.

Technical Background

When a Relator contains only event-driven Rules, the Argent AT Engine does not schedule it.

Instead, the Argent AT Engine listens for the incoming events such as SNMP trap, SYSLOG message etc., and processes the events by matching licensed nodes and the event-driven Rules used in production Relators.

If any match is found, the trace log will be generated for the matching Relator and source node.

On the Scheduled Monitoring Task screen, the ‘Engine’ columns for these Relators are empty, because there are no specific Engines assigned to schedule tasks for these event-driven Rules.

This may cause customers to think that Argent AT Engine is not handling these Relators.

The Argent AT GUI has been enhanced to put ‘{Event-Driven}’ in the engine column, and empty out the last and next run time.

Resolution

Upgrade to Argent AT 3.1A-1310-A or later
