KBI 310775 Issue Addressed: Redundant Node Alias In Network Scanning Using Active Directory

Version

Argent Advanced Technology 3.1A-1310-A and earlier

Date

Wednesday, 11 Dec 2013

Summary

Network scanning using Active Directory generates redundant node alias ‘{COMPUTER}$

Technical Background

Network Scanning using Active Directory reads computer attribute ‘DisplayName‘ for node alias

When the attribute is not specified by customer, it always return the share name ‘{COMPUTER}$

For example, server ‘PANWS has default display name ‘PANWS$

Argent AT 3.1A-1401-A will not use this default display name as node alias

If the node has a custom display name, Argent AT Engine will use as the node alias

Resolution

Upgrade to Argent Advanced Technology 3.1A-1401-A or later
