KBI 310790 Issue Addressed: Argent AT Services Randomly Shuts Down During Midnight Recycle

Version

Argent for Compliance 3.1A-1310-A or below

Date

Friday, 27 Dec 2013

Summary

When a server has many Argent AT services installed, Argent AT services may randomly shutdown during midnight recycle due to an error of invalid license.

By inspecting the service log, it is easy to spot error messages including “*** Invalid Key ***”, which are repeated at least 10 times.

Log lines may include:

Failed to write out intermediate license file. (The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.)(32)

00211 XML file 'C:\Users\admin\AppData\Local\Temp\TEMP_AD9_SVC.XML' does not exist

Could not parse the license information. License file may be corrupted. (The system cannot find the file specified.)(2)

*** Invalid Key ***

Technical Background

Argent AT services decrypt license file into an intermediate XML file before parsing licensing information.

The intermediate XML file has the same path and file name for all Argent AT products.

If multiple Argent AT services happen to perform this at the exact same time, the decryption may fail and an invalid license error may occur, resulting in services being stopped.

Resolution

Upgrade to Argent AT 3.1A-1401-A or later
