KBI 311015 Issue Addressed: Argent for SNMP GUI Test Failed With Non-Public Default Community String

Version

Argent Advanced Technology 3.1A-1404-A or earlier

Date

Thursday, 24 July 2014

Summary

After customer has successfully done SNMP network scanning, the SNMP settings used for the scanning is saved in Network Group object as default SNMP settings for all nodes in the Network Group

If a licensed node does not have explicit SNMP settings, the ones in Network Group are assumed

When the community string is not ‘public‘, if customer does Rule test or Relator test from GUI for the node, the main GUI will use ‘public‘ always, which will cause test to fail

Note: The issue does not happen to the service

Argent for SNMP service will use the correct community string defined in Network Group, and monitoring will be executed successfully

The issue has been addressed in Argent AT 3.1A-1407-A

Technical Background

The issue is caused by coding error

Resolution

Upgrade to Argent AT 3.1A-1407-A or later

If customer cannot upgrade immediately, he can explicitly set the SNMP settings in the Licensed Node Properties
