KBI 311232 New Feature: Preventing Noisy Alerts On Transient Database Issues

Version

Argent Advanced Technology 3.1A-1504-A and later

Date

Monday, 15 June 2015

Summary

The Argent AT product can be configured to fire System Event when the Argent AT SQL database is unavailable

This is a correctable condition

When SQL Server is stressed, it can become unavailable intermittently, but available again after 10 or 20 seconds

As a result, a needless pair of messages are sent: the first is a System Event of unavailable database, immediately followed by the auto-correction message

To prevent these needless and noisy Alerts about a non-critical ODBC issue, use the new feature to add a delay before firing such a System Event

If the condition has been corrected before the delay expires, no System Event is fired
