Summary

Deadlock System Events might happen randomly in Argent for SQL Server

By inspecting service log, entries similar to following can be seen:

Service will recycle and resume running when the deadlock condition is detected

However, if the condition happens too frequently, scheduled tasks could be late or skipped as results

The issue has been addressed in Argent Advanced Technology 3.1A-1601-T7

Technical Background

It is caused by coding error

Argent for SQL Server uses linked Windows Performance Rules extensively

Though there are specific Rules checking performance counters for SQL Server 2005, 2008, 2012, etc., they are essentially the same Rule types internally

They are linked to Windows Performance Rule

There is an internal data structure controls such Rule mappings

Deadlock condition could be resulted when accessing the data structure

Resolution

Upgrade to Argent Advanced Technology 3.1A-1601-T7 or later
