Summary

Argent for SQL Server has been enhanced with a new Rule category ‘SQL Database Physical/Allocation Consistency Check Rules’ to monitor the integrity of the physical structure of the page and record headers and the allocation consistency of the database

Technical Background

There is a new Rule in Argent for SQL Server to monitor the physical integrity of all the objects in the specified databases

This Rule checks the physical consistency of the database, detects the torn pages (page was not successfully written to disk), detects the checksum failures, and detects the common hardware failures that can compromise a user’s data

This Rule internally uses DBCC CHECKDB Transact-SQL statement to accomplish the functionality

DBCC CHECKDB may take considerably long time to complete depending upon the size and structure of the database

So Argent strongly recommends running this Rule in Relator using option ‘Spawn New Monitor Engine Process’
