Version

Argent Advanced Technology 3.1A-1601-T8 and earlier

Date

Wednesday, 11 May 2016

Summary

When Argent for SNMP Engine receives a SNMP trap message, if the trap comes from a source that is not licensed in the product, or trap message does not match criteria in any production Relator using SNMP trap Rule, the trap message is not handled

The Engine logs the unhandled trap message in file

If the trap message is not handled, Engine logs it in file

{PRODUCT_HOME_DIRECTORY}\UNHANDLED\ SNMP_TRAP_MSG.TXT

In a busy network environment, the file can grow to more than 100 MB

It will be extremely difficult to view such a big file in file viewer such as notepad

The feature has been enhanced in Argent AT 3.1A-1601-T9 so that the file will be rolled over when its size is over log file size limit

By default, it is 5 MB
