KBI 311402 Issue Addressed: Event Of SCM Access Error In Windows Service Rule Is Not Automatically Resolved When Target Machine Is Back Online

Version

Argent Advanced Technology 3.1A-1601-T9 and earlier

Date

Wednesday, 25 May 2016

Summary

When option ‘Fail Rule If Error Happens When Accessing Remote Service Control Manager (SCM)’ is checked in Windows Service Rule, Event will be fired if target machine is offline

However, when the target machine is back online, the Event is not automatically resolved

The issue has been addressed in Argent AT 3.1A-1601-T10

Technical Background

Windows Service Rule uses name of service that should be checked as the internal identifier for the Event

When Engine cannot access the remote Service Control Manager (SCM), the identifier is not determined as no service can be checked

As a result, no matching auto correction Event can be found when remote target machine is back online

Argent AT 3.1A-1601-T10 corrects the issue by firing a synthetic auto correction Event when SCM is available to match the outstanding Event

Resolution

Upgrade to Argent Advanced Technology 3.1A-1601-T10 or later
