KBI 310930 New Feature: Simplifying Management Of Daughter Engines With Direct Access
Version
Argent Advanced Technology 3.1A-1404-T1 and later
Date
Monday, 5 May 2014
Summary
A Daughter Engine is generally implemented at a remote office
It is common these days that the Daughter Engine can actually be accessed through Service Manager, Registry Editor and Network Share
This does not mean the Mother/Daughter architecture is obsolete — the Mother/Daughter architecture is still more efficient when dealing the slow or unreliable link between central and remote offices
By specifying that the Daughter Engine can be directly accessed, it can make Argent AT Service Management much easier
Take machine ‘W2008R264XEN‘ in following screen shots as example
By default, it is treated as a remote server
The Service Status, Service Logs browsing cannot be done in Global System View — this is why it is labeled as ‘***Remote***‘
A Daughter Engine is set as directly accessible in the Daughter Engine configuration on Supervising Engine screen
After the Daughter Engine is set as directly accessible, the Daughter Engine can be managed just like Argent Main Engines or Argent Motors
