KBI 311550 Issue Addressed: Daughter Engine Stops After Too Many Restarts
Version
Argent Advanced Technology 5.1A-1704-B or earlier
Date
Wednesday, 28 June 2017
Summary
Argent AT services at Daughter Engine could suddenly stop. The last line of service log has message text ‘Too many restarts, the service is forced to shut down’. Before that, log has multiple error messages like ‘***** ERROR ***** An error condition has been detected by ArgSoft_DAL_XML.cpp (L6360_Put_XML_RS) at line 1614: The secondary key column is invalid’.
The issue is caused by corruption of control information exported by Mother Engine. As results, when it happens, all Daughter Engines can be affected.
The issue has been addressed in 5.1A-1707-A.
Technical Background
Due to rare OS issue, the export file for control information could be corrupted. When Daughter Engine downloads such a file, it won’t be able to import the control information successfully. As results, Daughter Engine attempts to restart and download the file again. Because the file is corrupted at Mother Engine side, the sequential download and import cannot be completed successfully either. After so many restarts, Daughter Engine shuts down.
The issue is addressed by implementing bulletproof mechanism at Mother Engine side. Mother Engine expands and does integrity check of the exported DAT file before committing it for Daughter Engines to download.
Resolution
Upgrade to Argent Advanced Technology 5.1A-1707-A or later.
