In Argent Extended Technology, Argent Monitor for VMware 8.0A-0804 does not report free disk space of VMware “VMFS” file systems

The VMware ESX product has a “VMFS” file system that is not used in other Linux/Unix variants

This file system is optimized for Virtual Machines and is the default file system on SCSI disks

The normal Unix/Linux “df” command does not report disk space for “VMFS” file systems

This issue has been addressed in Argent for VMware

The Rule category ‘Datastore Free Space‘ has been added and the Rules in this category will check the free space in data store as percentage (%) or Megabytes (MB)

Example1, the Rule ‘DSTR_FREE_PERCENT_APPROACHING_LIMIT‘ calculates the free space in data store and the Rule is broken if the free space is less than 30%

Example2, ‘DSTR_FREE_MB_AT_LIMIT‘ Rule is broken if the free space in data store is less than 10,240 MB
