Summary

McAfee VirusScan Blocks Outgoing SMTP Mail.

Technical Background

The default installation of McAfee VirusScan Enterprise 8.0.0 blocks outgoing SMTP mail (TCP port 25) to any destination. This prevents the Argent Console from sending Email Alerts.

Resolution

Configure VirusScan Enterprise to allow outgoing SMTP traffic. Right-click on the VirusScan icon in the system tray:

Configure Access Protection.
