KBI 310605 Adding Cluster Objects With Duplicate Names

Summary

When adding cluster objects for different clusters, some clusters may have cluster objects with the same name as another cluster

Technical Background

Different clusters may have cluster objects with duplicate name.

For example, both cluster A and B may have cluster resource ‘Cluster Disk 1‘.

It prevents customer from adding the objects directly into CMDB-X.

The workaround is to give the object an alias while pointing the internal name to the real cluster object name. As the alias can be arbitrary, the uniqueness of the CMDB-X object name is guaranteed

Resolution

Give the cluster object an arbitrary different name but specify the real cluster object name as the internal name
