Summary
Unable to install Argent Reports and Argent Commander with Argent Advanced Technology after Argent Database (SQL) migrated to new server
Technical Background
After migrating Argent Database, it was found that ARGENT_ATLAS registry key gets stored in
‘HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Argent‘ hive instead of its normal hive
‘HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Argent‘
When installing Argent Commander or Argent Reports, it checks ARGENT_ATLAS registry in the Wow6432Node hive
In the above scenario, Argent Commander or Argent Reports installation displays an error message that the registry does not exist
Resolution
This issue can be solved by exporting the ARGENT_ATLAS registry hive from
‘HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Argent‘ to ‘HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Argent‘
Steps for exporting ARGENT_ATLAS registry hive are given below
Steps:
- Export the registry key ‘HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Argent\ARGENT_ATLAS‘ and save as “altas.reg” file
- Open “altas.reg” file in notepad and Replace every occurrence of “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Argent” with “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Argent”
- Import updated “Atlas.reg” into Wow6432Node and check “ARGENT_ATLAS” is created under “Wow6432Node”
