Summary
According to VMware document Best practices for using snapshots in the vSphere environment (1025279), there should be no more than 2 or 3 snapshots per virtual machine, and snapshots should not be used for more than 72 hours.
Argent AT implements both ESX Snapshot Rules and VM Guest Snapshot Rules for monitoring VMware snapshots.
ESX Snapshot Rule can monitor snapshots of any VM associated with an ESX host. Pattern matching is available to filter in/out certain virtual machines.
VM Guest Snapshot Rule monitors snapshots of associated virtual machine.
The new feature has been implemented in Argent AT 5.1A-2010-D.
