Summary

An interactive test of either a numeric or alphanumeric pager Alert generates a Dr. Watson error and the GUI is terminated.

Technical Background

This is caused by the COM port specified not being connected to a modem.

Resolution

To determine the COM port used by the modem, open the Modem applet in Control Panel on Windows NT, or the Phone and Modem Options applet in Windows 2000.

The Modems tab displays the COM port the modem uses.
