Summary
When a user attempts to fire an Alphanumeric Pager Alert within the Argent Console,
the alert may fail to fire.
The pager debug log may indicate “wait for answer timed out – no reason available.”
Technical Background
Alphanumeric Pager Alerts may fail to fire if the Data Bits, Stop Bits, and Parity settings
in the Advanced Pager Setup screen do not match those used by the COM port.
This may occur if an external modem is connected to the Argent server.
Resolution
In the Windows Device Manager, verify that the settings of the COM port connected to
the modem match those in the Advanced Pager Setup screen.
