Summary

Both Argent SMS Generator and Argent AT Engine use GSM modem to send SMS messages. GSM modem is operated through COM port. Normally COM port cannot be opened by two processes at the same time. Argent Omega 2.2A-2310-A has been enhanced to share hardware with Argent AT Engines.

No change is needed for Argent AT Engine. This allows smoother migration from Argent AT to Argent Omega.

Argent SMS Generator (standalone) can also co-exist with Argent Alert Executor.

Technical Background

Global mutex object is used to allow Argent Omega Generator or Argent AT Engine to use COM port exclusively at any time. Additional mechanism is implemented to release control between Argent Omega Generator and Argent AT Engine.

Resolution

Upgrade to Argent Omega 2.2A-2310-A or later.
