KBI 311121 Issue Addressed: Delta Value Might Not Be Calculated Properly In Argent Non-Stop Monitor Environment

Version

Argent Advanced Technology 3.1A-1410-B and Earlier

Date

Monday, 24 Nov 2014

Summary

Delta value of performance data is implemented in Windows Performance Rule and SNMP Rule

Delta value might not be calculated properly in Argent Non-Stop Monitor Environment

The issue is addressed in Argent AT 3.1A-1410-C

Technical Background

When Argent AT engine processes delta value of performance data, it saves current values in files PERF_LAST_VALUE \{RULE}_POLL_VALUE.DAT, and uses them to calculate delta value in next run

In Argent Non-Stop Monitor environment, each Motor maintains its own set of such files

They store the values of last check done by the local Motor

Consider such a situation as follows:

Monitor A runs the Rule at 1 p.m., saving the last value at local disk

Monitor B runs the Rule at 2 p.m.

Then Motor A runs the Rule at 3 p.m. Motor A will use the last value saved locally, which is value of 1 p.m. instead of the more recent value of 2 p.m. run by Motor B

As a result, the delta value will be incorrect

Resolution

Upgrade to Argent AT 3.1A-1410-C or later
