Version

Date

Monday, 19 December 2016

Summary

Argent AT Trusted Agent can be installed on Windows Server Core using either pushing out method or running remote setup package

However, the Trusted Agent won’t run any assigned tasks

Service log shows following lines:

Trusted Agent service will shut down eventually after recycling so many times

The issue has been addressed in Argent AT 5.1A-1610-C

Technical Background

Argent AT Trusted Agent executables have dependency on 32-bit mapi32.dll

It is used to implement emails using Extended MAPI API’s

Windows Server Core does not include mapi32.dll out of box

As a result, Trusted Agent executable keeps starting up and closing down

Resolution

Upgrade to Argent AT 5.1A-1610-C

For customer cannot upgrade immediately, he can copy mapi32.dll and mapistub.dll from a full Windows server of same version

The DLLs can be found under both SYSTEM32 and SYSWOW64 folders, which are 64-bit and 32-bit respectively

Make sure DLLs are copied to the same SYSTEM32 and SYSWOW64 folders

After the DLLs are in place, Argent AT Trusted Agent should work as expected
