KBI 311788 New Licensing Feature In Argent Job Scheduler

Version

Argent Job Scheduler 1911-B and above

Date

Summary

A new licensing feature has been implemented in the Argent Job Scheduler: Dependent mode

Technical Background

A new feature for licensing the Argent Queue Engine in Dependent mode has been implemented in the Argent Job Scheduler

Queue Engines running in Dependent mode do not have individual licenses

All or the license details are centrally located in one license file with the Scheduling Engine

The Scheduling Engine license also includes a Job limit feature for the Queue Engines running in Dependent mode

The number of Jobs per day that a Scheduling Engine can schedule on the Dependent Queue Engines is specified in the license file

A grace period of 30 days is provided from the first occurrence of the Job limit being exceeded

During the grace period, Jobs exceeding the limit will be executed but will be under the status of OVER LIMIT (instead of Ready) until they are submitted to a Queue Engine

Once the grace period is over, any Jobs exceeding the limit will immediately be Abended

The new licensing concept of Dependent Queue Engines does not replace the legacy method of Standalone Queue Engines (individual licenses)

Customers can have either of the installation modes or even a mixture of both in their environment

A Queue Engine installation can be changed to Standalone or Dependent mode by running the setup
