Summary

Argent Queue Engines can be installed in two different modes:

• Standalone
• Dependent

Standalone mode is the traditional way of installation and requires a unique license key for the Argent Queue Engine

In this mode the Argent Queue Engine runs independent of the Argent Scheduling Engine

Dependent mode is the newest method of installation

In this mode, the licensing is centrally handled by the Argent Scheduling Engine

The Argent Queue Engine does not need a license of its own

Instead, it will run only when the Argent Scheduling Engine is running and will use the license provided for the Argent Scheduling Engine

Technical Background

The Argent Job Scheduler setup has been enhanced with a checkbox option ‘Standalone Queue Engine’ in the License Details screen

With this checkbox option, customers can select the type of installation they want

By default, the option is checked to support backward compatibility

This will cause the Queue Engine to be installed in Standalone mode

If the option is unchecked, the Queue Engine will be installed in Dependent mode

If the customer proceeds with the installation in Dependent mode, no separate license for the Queue Engine will be requested, provided that the Scheduling Engine license has sufficient details
