Summary
Argent provides a free service for all customers where Argent will send heartbeat emails to a central email address
Argent is pleased to announce that this service is now available in Argent Reports 1710-E and above
This service not only ensures Argent Reports is running, but it ensures the scheduling and PDF generation process is still in tip-top shape
Heartbeats are sent every 8 hours, at 1:00 a.m., 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. local server time, daily
Technical Background
This Argent Reports heartbeats are a built-in feature that cannot be turned off – this ensures there are no situations where a new administrator ‘accidentally’ turns it off
The destination email address used for heartbeats is configurable, and customers are typically given a unique customer email alias @Argent.com – speak to your Argent Account Manager if you do not have one
All Heartbeat Email Addresses must contain @Argent or @ArgSoft in order to be valid
Changes can be made in the Settings tree, under General:
The heartbeat email itself contains the following information:
Subject: *** HEARTBEAT – ARGENT REPORTS *** %Company% – %Machine% – Every 8 Hours
Attachment: Dynamically generated PDF of a “Hello World” report, named HEARTBEAT.PDF – 53 KB
Email Body: *** HEARTBEAT ***
ARGENT HEARTBEAT ALERT RUNS AT 01:00, 09:00, 17:00
Company: %Company%
Machine: %Machine%
Date/Time: %Current Date/Time%
Note: The %Company% is extracted by reading the license key
