KBI 311389 New Rule Category Disconnected Session Count Rule In Argent for XenApp
Version
Argent Advanced Technology 1601-T8 and later
Date
Monday, 2 May 2016
Summary
Argent Advanced Technology has been introduced a new Rule category ‘Disconnected Session Count Rules’ in Argent for XenApp under ‘XenApp Session Monitoring Rules’ to check whether the count of disconnected sessions in XenApp 6.5 server matches the threshold condition
‘Disconnected Session Count Rules’ check the disconnected session count in XenApp servers
Example:
Rule ‘RULE_DISCONN_SESS_CNT_AT_LIMIT’ is broken, if the disconnected sessions count in XenApp server is greater than 50
Technical Background
When a client machine initiates communication to the XenApp server with an ICA client and the user is successfully authenticated against the XenApp farm, a session is created on the server
The session is the core of the XenApp experience
When the XenApp server retains an open session but the user is no longer actively connected this is a disconnected session
Also, disconnected sessions can happen for other reasons such as network issues or loss of network connectivity
This Rule compares the count of sessions (including all application instances) in disconnected state in XenApp Server with the given threshold value
A sudden increase in the disconnected session count must be investigated thoroughly
The Rule monitors all disconnected sessions in the XenApp 6.5 server
