Summary

Argent for SQL Server has been enhanced with a new Rule category ‘Database Update Statistics Rule’ for monitoring the database statistics updating process

Technical Background

The ‘Database Update Statistics Rule’ provides alert if any error occurred during database statistics update

It provides an option ‘Update Statistics Of Modified Tables Only’ which specifies the scope of the update

If this option is selected, it means to update the statistics only on those user tables where data was modified since the last time UPDATE STATISTICS was run

If this option is not selected, it means to update the statistics on all the user tables

There is also another option ‘Recompile Stored Procedure On The Updated Tables’

If this option is selected, it means to recompile stored procedures on the updated tables

This Rule may take considerably long time to complete depending upon the size and structure of the database

So Argent strongly recommends running this Rule in Relator using option ‘Spawn New Monitor Engine Process’
