KBI 311508 New Rule Category Process CPU Usage Count Rule In Argent for XenApp
Version
Argent Advanced Technology 3.1A-1601-T20 and later
Date
Tuesday, 10 January 2017
Summary
Argent Advanced Technology has been introduced a new Rule category ‘Process CPU Usage Count Rules’ in Argent for XenApp
This Rule is under ‘Application Monitoring Rules’ that checks the count of application processes running in ICA (Independent Computing Architecture) sessions in XenApp 6.5 server, those have the CPU usage matching the threshold condition
Example:
‘Process CPU Usage Rules’ checks the CPU usage of all processes of applications running in ICA (Independent Computing Architecture) sessions and saves the count of processes those have CPU usage matching threshold condition
Rule ‘RULE_PCS_CPU_USG_CNT_DEMO’ saves the count of processes running in ICA (Independent Computing Architecture) sessions in XenApp server those have CPU usage greater than 90%
Technical Background
A higher value indicates more CPU usage
It should be checked immediately to find out the root cause of the extreme CPU usage
It is significant to prevent users and their processes from utilizing the CPU too much and maintain a consistent performance level for all users on the XenApp server
This Rule saves the count of application processes running in ICA (Independent Computing Architecture) sessions in XenApp 6.5 servers having CPU Usage, matching the threshold condition
Also, there is a provision to set the required CPU usage threshold
