KBI 311771 Issue Addressed: LINUX/Unix Monitoring Using PLINK Of Newer Version Timeout Always
Version
Argent Advanced Technology – All versions
Date
Thursday, 22 August 2019
Summary
When using PLINK to monitor LINUX/Unix server, both connectivity test and running Relator can times out without actually running Rule script
When doing connectivity test interactively using Engine {local}, following line shows in the testing terminal first:
Access granted. Press Return to begin session
Only after user presses Enter key, the session continues
This is actually caused by new anti-spoofing feature introduced in PuTTY v0.71
Technical Background
When using PuTTY v0.71 or later, running Relator will be stuck at the anti-spoof prompt
As Engine knows nothing about it, Engine will simply wait until times out
Resolution
User can take one of following to address the issue
- Download and install PuTTY earlier than and including v0.70
Make sure put PLINK.exe in Windows\System32 folder
- Specify string ‘-no-antispoof’ as additional arguments in Node Properties of License Manager
- Upgrade to most recent Argent Advanced Technology and use built-in SSH library instead of PLINK to monitor LINUX/Unix server
