Summary

Argent WorldView fails to install, and the installation process terminates

Argent WorldView starts the install process, and the prerequisite-check window flashes on the screen for a split second

The install process then terminates prematurely with no additional information

Technical Background

The Argent WorldView setup process retrieves the SQL Server version to verify whether it is adequate

This is implemented by executing a SQL query, which usually returns just the SQL Server version

Example: Microsoft SQL Server 2017 Enterprise Edition

But, certain installations of SQL Server return the version with a description, causing a buffer overflow

We have addressed the issue by increasing the buffer size from 256 to 10,240

Upgrade to Argent WorldView 7.0A-R13 or above
