Running Groups Of Relators

You can combine two or more Relators to enable a series of Rules to be run.

A good example of this is the lightweight SLA Rule in the System Down And SLA Rules. In this case, a lightweight SLA ping is used to check the server or device every second. Naturally this check does nothing beside checking the server or device is online. If this Rule fails, it’s often a good idea to run a more extensive test.

To do this, do the following

  1. Define the lightweight SLA Rule

  2. Create a Relator for this lightweight SLA Rule

  3. Define a second SLA Rule using the test to check the existence of a file on the server

  4. Create a Relator for this second SLA Rule

  5. Tie the second Relator to the first Relator’s Advanced tab option
