Summary

Report automatic distribution stopped working but manual report preview always works fine.

The following error was captured in Argent Reports logs,

Could not open database “ARGENT_REPORT” requested by login. Login failed. Invalid connection string attribute.

Technical Background

The error indicates database connectivity issue.

A customer configured Argent Report service account as Local System without SQL access permission to the product database caused the error.

When customer troubleshoot, the person logged on as a different account which does have required SQL permission and therefore found manual report preview always works fine.

Issue was addressed after updating Argent Reports service account with appropriate SQL access.

Resolution

Ensure Argent service account has appropriate SQL permission to all Argent databases.
