Summary

Argent can not receive SNMP Traps from a device that has been added to the Master Catalog and configured with a DNS name

The device must be exist in Argent as an IP device with an IP address as the name of the device

Technical Background

SNMP v2

An application called JBOSS Operations Network existing on a Linux host within a java virtual machine sends standard SNMP traps. The Linux host was consuming a Linux license in Argent.

Resolution

Add the Linux Host as an IP Device. Configure the IP Device to send Traps to Port 162 on the Argent Engine.
