Summary

Argent for Compliance allows for wildcards such as ‘*‘ or ‘?‘ to be used in the file name pattern to scan multiple log files

This may not always work as the ‘File Name Column‘ setting might be invalid for the target operating system

NOTE: This is a common issue for customers monitoring multiple logs on UNIX servers

Technical Background

Argent for Compliance executes the command ‘ls -ldt1 /path/to/logfile.log‘ to determine the files in the folder as shown below:


Note that in the example above the filename appears to be in column nine, hence the default setting of eight will NOT work

Resolution

The ‘File Name Column‘ setting can be changed in ‘Administration > License Manager > Node Properties‘ as shown below:
