Summary

As Argent for Oracle is using Oracle C++ Call Interface (OCCI) library for monitoring Oracle databases, a helper process will get terminated unexpectedly when executing the Connectivity test from a machine where OCCI is NOT installed

Technical Background

Argent for Oracle requires Oracle C++ Call Interface library for monitoring Oracle databases

Whenever Argent for Oracle is trying to connect to an Oracle database without installing this library, the helper process used for connectivity test fails to start and hence it does not return any result

To verify this double click on the ‘ARGSOFT_ORACLE_HELPER.EXE’

It will show the following error:

Install 32 bit oracle client
