Summary

Argent services may stop after applying Microsoft Hotfixes to the Argent database that uses Microsoft SQL Server

Technical Background

Several Microsoft Hotfixes for Microsoft SQL Server require a full server restart to apply the Hotfixes, this causes a database outage for the Argent services

During the database outage, Argent services will continuously attempt to reconnect to the database for three minutes after which the Argent service will gracefully come to a stop

Resolution

The allowed database outage period can be set to a longer period to accommodate the Microsoft SQL Server downtime while it is applying the various Microsoft Hotfixes

The following registry key can be increased to accommodate a longer outage period:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432NODE\ARGENT\COMMON\SQL_OUTAGE_ALLOWED_IN_MINUTE
