Summary

A customer recently added about 20 wireless access points to Argent

Ping Rule was used as SLA check against network devices

Customer reported Ping Rule always fails on about 10 wireless access points and are always the same devices

Argent is working fine on all other network devices

Technical Background

The case was found related to DNS records of customer environment

Each of the 10 problematic wireless access points unexpectedly contain multiple DNS record

It resulted resolving to IP addresses that are unreachable

Issue was outside of Argent

Resolution

Always check if Node was added to Argent using DNS name or IP address

Always manually resolve DNS name into IP address on Argent server and validate on another server or workstation

Validate resolved IP address
