Customer may find false alerts always fired for certain network devices, even if no configuration change was made

Technical Background

Argent for SNMP can back up configuration for almost any brand & model of network devices, accept SSH and allow “show configuration” using command line

Certain brand and model always output current time in device configuration output

An example is shown below:

When the current time stamp is part of configuration output, it causes “a change” is detected by Argent

However, network administrator may not have made any changes

The issue is caused by device behavior and can be addressed by Argent built-in feature

Resolution

The current time stamp is usually in one of the top lines of configuration output

Customer can use ‘Ignore Top Lines’ feature in License Manager in Argent for SNMP, by defining the number of lines to be ignore in the device configuration output
